The Road To Cuba
This spring, our Mohawks and mentors will be traveling to Holguin, Cuba as part of our FIRST commitment to introducing young people to science and technology. We firmly believe that this effort is an outstanding opportunity to learn more about Cuba and help bridge the gap between Cuban and American cultures, starting at the educational level. In order to accomplish this, our team has been working closely with Congressman Lee Zeldin and the University of Holguin. We plan on implementing JEP into Cuban primary schools and FLL into Cuban secondary schools as a stepping stone to FIRST. This will tremendously benefit Cuban students, as they lack STEM related programs and are nearly untouched by FIRST programs and principles. Each year, our team aspires to create greater and more effective programs that not only engage students, but inspire them to pursue careers in engineering fields.
