STEP will be run for the most part through a matchmaking website. The main functions will include:
Profile Making/Viewing - Each team will make profiles with information that will be used for matchmaking. Other teams will be allowed to view these profiles and contact one another if interested.
Matchmaking - Through the use of algorithms, teams will be matched based on highest compatibility with the information provided on their respective profiles. The matching percentage will be displayed.
FRC teams will register to the website and provide basic information to build a profile. This information, based on priority, will be used to match teams that are most compatible with one another. Information used in the profile will include:
Team size/Number of team members that will be traveling
Main languages spoken
Location of team
Position as a hosting or visiting team
When a match between teams has been made and there are plans for the exchange program, individual team member profiles will be created. This information will allow the host families to adequately prepare for the visiting team members.
